shall we watch the weather turn dark over the mountainside?
the storm come to the windows?
the light run from the shadows?

you can make bread if you want to
flour to your elbows

the government will be far away in some distant city
minding their own business
and everyone will have

a cabin by the lake with weather at the windows
and the skies will be quiet
and the bombs will all be swallowed unexploded by the sea
